What is Dystopia Rising?

A brief EXPLANATION:

Dystopia Rising or "DR" is a national network of live action role-play games set in a dystopian future where resources are scarce and participants must make the best of the wastes.  Participants create unique characters, costumes, and props to portray survivors trying to make their way in a world where zombies, raiders, and other antagonists are part of life.

Dystopia Rising: Colorado is just one of many games across the country in the DR Network.

Live Action Role Play Games or "LARPs" are a hobby shared across the world that involve improvisational acting as your character, teambuilding, and in some cases (such as DR) safe systems for combat.  Dystopia Rising utilizes nerf blasters and safe foam weapons for combat meaning that your weekend will be mentally stimulating as well a physically active!

We run at least 8 events per year with our season generally running from March till November.  Our player base comes from all over Colorado, and we are fortunate enough to enjoy visitors from the rest of the country on a regular basis.

WHERE WE PLAY:

On a typical weekend we are usually at a private campground with cabins and/or dorms and several central gathering spots, though sometimes we arrange for a single day or evening at a state park. Special events across the network may be at approved sites, such as large campsites, convention halls, or empty buildings. With permission of site coordinators, there have been events held by other chapters run at an empty school, an underground cave, and an old shipping port that was bulldozed the week after we used the site!

We are fortunate to maintain a great relationship with the site coordinators that we have utilized over the years. Dystopia Rising has a built-in culture for respecting the sites we use, and all participants are required to help clean up the space afterwards, leaving better it better than it was found. Dystopia Rising: Colorado follows the best practices for running events and maintains liability insurance to protect its sites and participants.
